Who we are
Fadefain Ltd is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 13505743, with our registered office at 4-4a Blackburn Road, Accrington, Lancashire, BB5 1HD.
Questions about this notice, and any request or complaint under data protection law, go to hello@fadefain.com.
The information we collect
We keep this site deliberately light. The personal information we handle through it falls into four categories.
Enquiries. When you contact us by email, we hold your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us. We use this to respond, to keep a record of the conversation, and where the contact leads to work, to run that engagement.
Applications. When you send us a CV through the Work with us page, we hold the information you provide and use it to consider you for current or future engagements. If nothing comes of it, we delete it after twelve months, or sooner if you ask.
Mailing list. If you sign up to be notified when we publish new content, we hold your email address for that purpose alone. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by writing to us. We use Buttondown to run the list; it acts on our instructions and holds only what the list needs. We send one email when something new is published, and nothing else.
Technical information. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, browser type and pages requested; we use these only to keep the site secure and working. The site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
We do not use this website to collect any special category information, and we ask that you do not send us any.
Why we are allowed to use it
Our lawful basis for handling enquiries, applications and technical information is our legitimate interest in running the practice: answering the people who contact us, considering the people who want to work with us, and keeping the site secure. The mailing list runs on your consent, as above. Where the law requires us to keep records, for example for tax, our basis is legal obligation.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the providers who run our systems (hosting, email, the mailing list and IT), with our professional advisers where needed, and with authorities where the law requires it. All providers act on our instructions and are bound to protect the information they handle.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted after twenty-four months. Engagement records are kept for six years after the engagement ends, reflecting legal and accounting requirements. Applications follow the twelve-month rule above. Mailing list addresses are held until you unsubscribe. Server logs follow the hosting provider's standard rotation.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email us at the address above. We will respond within one calendar month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, tell us at the address above. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond as quickly as we can. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would welcome the chance to resolve the matter first.
Changes
We will update this notice when our practices change, and the date below always reflects the current version.
